macOS App
SoundSnag is a native SwiftUI app for macOS with two tools. Snag Audio takes a YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok link, previews it, and saves the audio in its original format. Convert Files turns images, PDFs, audio, and video into the formats you need. Everything runs on your Mac with no backend, no accounts, and no paid services.
Paste a YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok link and SoundSnag previews it, then saves the audio in its original format through a bundled, pinned yt-dlp. Drop images, PDFs, audio, or video on Convert Files and ImageIO and ffmpeg handle the rest locally, all inside the App Sandbox with no accounts and no server.
Purpose
Replaces the ad-heavy converter sites and sketchy downloaders people reach for when they need a sound or a file format in a hurry. SoundSnag bundles pinned builds of yt-dlp, ffmpeg, and Deno and runs them inside the App Sandbox, staging every download and conversion in the app container before moving it to your chosen folder, so nothing partial is left behind and nothing leaves the machine.
Key Features
Paste a YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok link, preview its metadata, and save the audio in its native M4A or WebM format.
Images to JPEG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF, or one combined PDF; PDFs to images; audio and video to MP3, M4A, WAV, or FLAC.
Bundled, pinned yt-dlp, ffmpeg, and Deno run inside the App Sandbox from argument arrays, never a shell, to block option injection.
Paste a link or drop files on the menu bar icon, pick formats, watch progress, and drag finished files straight out of the panel.
SwiftData keeps every snag and conversion, and Swift Charts plots both over time.
Downloads or any folder through a security-scoped bookmark, shared by snags and conversions, and existing files are never overwritten.
Banners when a job finishes in the background; clicking one reveals the file in Finder.
Launch arguments that snag, convert, and screenshot the app, used to test it end to end.
